40 Hour Technical Assistance Program
Through collaborative partnerships with our Alliance Partners, SATOP can provide eligible entrepreneurs and small businesses located in Texas with up to 40 hours of technical assistance.
In this program, the entrepreneurs or small business owners are paired with an engineer or faculty member from a university. Requests must have a distinct and identifiable engineering challenge that appears solvable in the 40-hour limit.
University Capstone Design Program
Thanks to the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) and its partnership with Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, SATOP has formed a collaboration with the Texas A&M University Engineering Capstone Design Program for multifaceted challenges allowing for creative design and ideation. In the program, entrepreneurs and small business owners work with a team composed of three to six senior engineering students'. The students, under the guidance of a faculty member, spend one to two semesters designing solutions and working towards an academic prototype. The entrepreneurs and small business owners receive the students’ work at the end of the program.
This program has grown to include Texas A&M College Station, Texas A&M Galveston, Houston Christian University, Sam Houston State University, Texas State University, University of Houston - Clear Lake, the University of Texas (UT) at Tyler, and UT Tyler’s Houston Engineering Center. SATOP determines which university is the best fit after project evaluation.
